Out & About
Real Estate Lovers! Betty Kan, Me, and three
dynamic Directors of
Roof Real Estate Group - Dave Lau, Robert Yap
and Peter Soh!
We attended the Roof
Real Estate Group Business Conference where I
was the keynote speaker on the topic of "The
Challenge of Leadership".
It was an exciting event for the afternoon, where
many of the top Achievers and Top Franchisees in
sales volume were awarded prizes for their
magnificent contribution towards revenue.
The afternoon started off with a scrumptious
buffet lunch, then followed by inspiring speeches
and prizegiving to the champion sales achievers.
There's no feeling like a Champion in the Sales
Achievers' Club!
Congratulations again to all the Prizewinners,
and remember, in case you rest too long on your
laurels, the clock is wound back to zero again for the
start of the second half of the year!

Carpe Diem...seize the day! You know when you
wake up in the morning and the very first
thoughts
that come through your mind will determine how your
day will be? Well, wake up in the
morning and say, "Oh no, morning already! I shoulda
gone to bed earlier last night...ugh...I've that
meeting on today with that tough customer of
mine"...and guess what? That's exactly the sort of
day you'll be having!
But if you were to say in a bright, affirmative,
and
cheerful tone to
yourself, "Carpe
Diem...I shall sieze this day...because it's my
day, it's my quest today to make a positive
contribution to someone's life", then it will be so.
You'll literally spring out of bed, and go get prepared
for the wonderful day ahead of you!
Be the best YOU that YOU can be today. You
don't need to compare yourself with anybody
else. After all, there's only one wonderful YOU!
So go all out to be the really unique person that
you are. Put all other negative thinking and feelings
out of your mind.
Laser focus yourself. Be the wonderful
you. Impress only yourself, you don't need to
compare yourself with others
That's all you've got to do...sieze the day...make
it
yours...make it pay off...do your quest...you've
done your homework...you've prepared for the
day...you know what you're going to do today...set
off on your adventure for the day...hold those
thoughts firmly in your head, and act out of your
heart! And I know you'll have a great day ahead!
Carpe Diem...seize YOUR day!
And have a fabulous month ahead!
Ricky

Making it Real by Afizah Rahim

[Afizah Rahim is Client Services Manager at Mindset
Media]
When a friend of mine excitedly told me that
she had been taking boating lessons to get her
powered pleasure craft driving license, I thought
to myself, Why boat license? You can't drive it to
work, you can't park it at your multi-storey carpark
and it's expensive to own a boat! When I told her
that, she simply said that she loves the sea and with
the license, she can bring her friends with her. Yes, I
sea (excuse the pun) a passion for living.
While my husband was driving, he reminisced
about the good old times when he went dirt biking,
trailing the plantations and exploring dangerous
corners of the villages in Malaysia. I just laughed
and said, 'Those were the days'. Just then a
dirt bike passed our car. The biker was in his dirty
biking gears. My husband was wide-eyed with envy
and excitement. He continued reminiscing those days
when he too, would ride with passion.
Living your passion keeps you alive. It makes
you different. I want to live it, breathe it and share
it. I want to share my passion for excitement
and imagination with everyone, anyone. Everyone
has a little bit of drama and electricity in their life but
how can you use it to your advantage, in your job,
with your family?
Are you all that you can be? Where
else could you put more of the very special
ingredient called ìYOU' in it? There's even drama
in just a taking or making a telephone call! I do my
job with passion in teaching and serving others, and
it's not just a job. It's a calling. A quest.
I'm living my passion. Are you?

Maideen's Monthly Masala

Maideen [the one with the moustache], our
Administration Manager at Mindset Media, starts
a new column from this month, that celebrates the
cauldron that is called Life. Entitled 'Maideen's
Monthly Masala', it promises a spicy mix of humour,
stories for the soul, jokes, riddle of the month and
more! Gear yourself, for the man has been let loose!
Story of the Month
Horror gripped the heart of the World War 1
soldier, as he saw his lifelong friend fall in battle.
Caught in a trench with continuous gunfire blazing
over his head, the soldier asked his lieutenant if he
could go out into the enemy territory, to the very
trench where his comrade had fallen.
'You can go,' said the lieutenant, 'but I don't
think it will be worth it. Your friend is probably
dead and you may throw your own life away in
getting there.' The lieutenant's answer didn't matter,
and the soldier went anyway.
He managed to reach his friend, hoist him
onto his shoulder and bring him back to their
company's trench. As the pair tumbled in
together to the bottom of the trench, the officer
checked on the wounded soldier and shaking his
head, said, 'I told you it wouldn't be worth it. Your
friend is dead and you too are heavily wounded.'
'It was worth it, sir,' said the soldier
solemnly. 'How do you mean, worth it? Your
friend is dead!' responded the lieutenant.
'Yes, Sir, he is dead' the soldier
answered, 'but it was worth it because when I got
to him, he was still alive and I had the
satisfaction of hearing him say, ' Jim, I knew
you'd come.'
Maideen says:
Many a times, in life, whether something
is worth doing or not, really depends on how you look
at the situation. Pick up all your courage and do
something your heart tells you to. Choose your
friends as the dead soldier did in Jim. 'A true friend is
one who walks in when the rest of the world walks
out on you.'

Quote of the Day

From Stuart Wilde, one of my favourite
philosophers, from his book, "The Secrets of
Life" , 1990
On Perfection: None of us came to the
physical plane to be perfect. It's the very fact that
we are imperfect that makes this whole spiritual
quest so bloody marvellous.
The imperfection allows you to develop a forgiveness
in your heart. Not only forgiveness of yourself, but a
forgiveness that you offer others.
You can cut them a little slack, Jack. You don't have
to push people to be perfect. And as you grant that
forgiveness to yourself, others in turn grant you more
leeway and soon you begin to see how beautifully
bizzare life is.
And that's worth thinking about!
