Out & About
Life is like durians: prickly and often difficult to
handle on the outside, but delicious and yummy once
you can into the inside (to durian lovers
that is!)
Life has lots of gastronomic delights. We can
get durians at almost any time of the day or night,
and other delights such as prawn mee, loh mein, bak
kut teh, and curries are just unbeatable delicacies in
Malaysia and Singapore!
Like food, life can be sweet, highly palatable
and aromatic at times. At times it can also be
bitter, hot, difficult and tough at times.
You know what? It all depends on your
perspective and attitude. Whichever way it is
that you view your life - that's the way it is! Now
back to my durians...

Dear Reader,
Has the short month of February been a busy
month for you? It has been for me!
We're doing lots of dynamic persuasive presentation
skills training. It seems that a lot of managers have
found that it's important to be able to present your
ideas in a sharp and impactful manner.
If you can't get your ideas across in a
straightforward, crisp and understandable
fashion, then you leave your audience in doubt of
what you're trying to say.
If you can say something clearly, then you've got
things organised properly. And if you can't do
that,
then I'd suggest that you should spend some time
sharpening up your presentation skills. You won't be
sorry you did.
Make it a great month! Lead With Passion!
Ricky

Use your hands to support your message!

"To make your point, just put your fingers like
thus, and a heartshape appears...viola!"
So many people lose out on impact when
they don't use their hands to make the appropriate
gestures or to support their verbal response.
To only use your mouth to state what you say
without using your hands to enhance the
message means that your message might be missing
out on a powerful punch.
Learn to use your hands appropriately to
support your verbal message. You'll get your point
across in more dynamic form!

Quote of the Day

From Stuart Wilde, one of my favourite
philosophers, from his book, "The Secrets of
Life" , 1990
"On Making Things Special: What is real is
what you have here right now. If you can make what
you have special, then every moment of every day
becomes special.
If you constantly project forward to the future
or to things that may or may not come about,
you devalue what it is that you have created. In
devaluing what is real, you also pull energy away
from your hopes and dreams , and when they do
finally show up you'll devalue them.
So it's dumb to ignore the present in favour of
a possible future which, when finally
materialised, will disappoint you. It's better that you
energise the present with your approval.
And I say that's worth thinking about!
