Out
and About

Here I am with my new assistant, Minnie, who helps me in my training
programmes. Over the last few weeks I worked with MobileOne where
we found further skills to further improve on their already excellent
emotional competencies (EQ) at work and with Schneider Electric
in Singapore with their top-gun Distributors Club on "Customer-Centric",
quality focused service strategies.
Also coming up soon will be some public workshops called
"Speak to Win",
organised by
Partners Conference
and Event Management.
These will be held in:
Bangkok - 10 October
Kuala Lumpur - 14 October
Singapore - date to be decided
For more details please e-mail Delphine at Partners.

Why training doesn't work
A few weeks ago I conducted a training forum, "Why
Training Doesn't Work ... What Went Wrong? ... and
What
To Do About It?" This was organised by Partners
Conference and Event Management, and attended
by HR and Training executives from many companies in
Singapore.
A huge thank you to all participants for sharing their
thoughts and insights, and coming up with lots of ideas
about how we can make training work better. To read my article
please click on the link "Why
Training Doesn't Work ..."
Due to popular demand we will be holding this forum
again on 21 August. For enquiries and registration
please e-mail Delphine at
Partners.
Thank you to Shirley Taylor for helping me to facilitate
the forum. Find out more about
Shirley and her training programmes on business
writing skills. Thanks also to Shirley for contributing a
guest article this month on business writing skills - just
scroll down to read her Seven Deadly Sins of Business
Writing!

Communication skills
One of my training specialisms is communication skills so
I thought it would be appropriate to write about this
topic in my first e-newsletter.
There are many different levels of communication,
various problems that people have in communicating,
and numerous ways we can communicate in order to
influence and to persuade.
If you want to read more about my thoughts on the
communication process, and my tips on communication,

Seven Deadly Sins of Business Writing by Shirley Taylor
Business today is being conducted in a very informal
way. In meetings and conferences we are using a
natural, informal, more relaxed language, rather than
stilted, formal language that was used several decades
ago. So how come many people are still using business
writing that is more suited to our great-grandfathers
rather than 21st Century businessmen and women?
I conduct many workshops on business writing and
e-mail skills, and I've drawn up what I call my Seven
Deadly Sins of Business Writing. If you want to
improve your written communication skills, why not take
a look!
